If you are in the market to start making a new place home for the best brunch for your weekends with the girls, I have got just the spot for you!
A few weeks ago my friend Betty and I stopped in at KOST for a delicious brunch. Ever since I lived at Bisha Hotel, Kost has been on my list of restaurants in the city to try. Needless to say, I’m really happy I finally had an opportunity to check out this great downtown-Toronto restaurant. This chic spot is located on the 44th floor of the Bisha Hotel, Kost features unparalleled panoramic views of the city. The restaurant was inspired by the Baja Peninsula, Executive Chef Ben Heaton unites the bright, fresh and lively flavours of the Californian coastline by way of colourful dishes and refreshing cocktails.
Betty had been to Kost in the past, but it was my first time at the restaurant and I absolutely loved it. From the moment I walked in, I fell in love with the warm neutral tones of the restaurant and the minimalist vibes. It really keeps with current trends and the entire environment is super regal. Being that it’s on the 44th floor, the views, of course, are breathtaking and the lighting is spectacular (perfect for all of those Insta pics! ;)).
When I walked in, I was greeted warmly by a server who took my coat and lead me to the table where my beautiful Betty was already waiting for me. I was lucky to be sitting in the far corner because the walk from the entrance to my table featured the most magical views of the entire city. I couldn’t get enough, when I sat down I took a moment to really soak it all in. If you have the chance to come to Kost, make a couple of dozen bathroom trips to really let yourself get to see all of the views that the 44th floor has to offer!
I’ve dined at similar restaurants a number of times and in my experience, the food has always been mediocre at best. It was never really worth what I paid for. I felt the view is what ended up making it “worth it,” if you could really say that. Kost however, was a 180 experience in how different it ended up being. Especially by far exceeding my expectations. To start, I had the East Coast oysters – which you could taste the freshness and they were overall delicious. Next, I tried the avocado toast which consisted of crushed avocado, goat cheese crema, heirloom tomato and jalapeño vinaigrette accompanied with a fresh mixed salad. The avocado toast was incredible and quite possibly the best one I’ve had in the city. The selection was varied for different tastes and everything was beyond delicious.
Overall, I had an outstanding experience at Kost. From beginning to end, our server ensured we were well taken care of and the views and food really delivered. I will definitely be returning to Kost in the near future and you should too!
