One of my New Year resolutions this year was to do a better job of taking care of my skin and hair and, I’m proud to say that it’s going pretty well so far! I’m in my best skin yet! Seriously, have you ever stopped for a moment to think just how much the environment and stress affect your skin?

This summer we’ve experienced some scorching temperatures, and let me tell you, this heatwave in Toronto has been no joke, making it even more important than ever to you protect your skin by keeping it hydrated.

Here are some of my favourite skincare and beauty products designed to help your skin survive the heatwave.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution

I came across this product while browsing on Amazon. I’ll admit that initially, I was a little skeptical and almost didn’t purchase it, but I’ve been using it daily for the past three months and can’t say enough good things about it!

Like so many others, I suffer from dark circles under my eyes, giving me the appearance of someone who lacks sleep. Ove the past three months I’ve been using the Ordinary Caffeine Solution and my under my eyes look brighter and has lost its tired appearance. Caffeine has many benefits and is an antioxidant which has an anti-aging effect, it also contracts the small blood vessels which helps improve circulation, reduce inflammation and redness. Definitely, a must-have skincare product!

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

I stopped using a primer to prep my face for a long time now, but as I mentioned above, the heatwave in Toronto this summer has been no joke. Foundation is bound to melt off in these hot temperatures and this primer not only helps my foundation last all day long, but it also preps the skin by forming a perfect base for a smooth and even coverage.

Burt’s Bees Natural Overnight Lip Treatment

This lip mask has become my new favourite lip treatment. Chapped lips are really no fun in the summer heat, and who am I kidding, I hate having to reapply lip balm constantly throughout the day. I recently picked up Burt’s Bees Overnight Lip Treatment, which I apply every night as part of my evening skincare routine, and it’s drastically reduced the chapping. This lip mask does such an excellent job of locking in moisture and most days I don’t have to apply any lip balm at all, so I have gone from applying multiple times a day to just one application at night.

Fenty Beauty Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

My long-time favourite foundation is Armani Luminious Silk Foundation because of its incredible and long-lasting coverage, especially in the heat. But when Rihanna released her line of foundations, I decided to make the switch and luckily. In the past, I have always had to mix foundations to get the perfect shade, but with Fenty I managed to find one that matches my skin almost perfectly. This is the perfect foundation to offer you the shade that matches your skin since it has a wide range of shades (50 to be exact!) to choose from. Most importantly, its coverage is phenomenal, it feels silky when you apply it and it holds up really well in hot and humid weather.

Fenty Beauty Instant Retouch Setting Powder

With this heat, it doesn’t make sense to wear a full face of heavy makeup, so I have kept my summer makeup look pretty simple. Even though I have ditched the full face makeup, I always make it a point to brighten up and highlight under my eyes with concealer and setting powder. I have used Ben Nye Banana Powder for ages now, and Laura Mercer’s setting powder is fantastic too! However, I had previously tried Fenty’s Warmth Bronzer and loved it, so I figured I would give this product a try. I am not exaggerating when I say that this product is a game-changer in terms of how long your concealer lasts. It applies smoothly, feels silky and the skin under your eyes will look flawless, and to top it all, it lasts all day long, even in the heat.

Tip: For a better application apply using a slightly damp brush. I recently started using Hydrabio Brume Soothing Refreshing Water to dampen my brush prior to applying this product and found that it helps with a smoother application.

Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer

Even though I love using bronzers to contour my cheeks, forehead, and nose, as a brown-skinned girl, it can sometimes be difficult to find the perfect bronzer. I picked up Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Instant Warm Bronzer a few months back and it’s become my favourite bronzer to date! It’s creamy, adds the perfect amount of warmth giving me a softer more subtle look. It adds warmth to my skin leaving me with a beautiful sun-kissed look that lasts all day long.
